In "Readiness of U.S. Nurses for Evidence-Based Practice" (Original Research, September), the study describes many nurses' inability to identify, locate, and evaluate appropriate resources in implementing evidence in their practice. One scenario in the article describes a hapless nurse manager who can't access the "small locked medical library-used mostly by a few physicians" because nobody has ever told her where the key is kept. The article encourages collaboration with medical librarians for access to resources, services, and training. As a supervisor in the Knowledge Resource Library at Central DuPage Hospital, I have circulated this report to our nursing leadership staff, with a big plug for my services. Nurses should know that a locked library is no longer the norm.
