I am an educator and engaged in faculty practice, and I can assure you that this editorial will be posted on my door and assigned to my students. The lack of civic awareness (and of ordinary civility) is a huge problem in our society; nurses, sadly, don't think that this part of their curriculum is relevant to the professsion, so they often don't study it in school.
