I always wished that I'd traveled more after college. Instead, I settled down with a family and a steady job in a hospital. That's what most people did in the late 70s and early 80s-although some were more adventurous than I was. It never occurred to me-either then or as the years passed-that I might have the chance to pursue an adventure later in life.
But today, my kids are grown and in college, and I'm just realizing that I really could think about travel again. There is hope!!
If you're in my situation, with kids moving on to their own lives, you may be in the same boat. What a great time to consider travel nursing. If you're a seasoned nurse with years of experience, you offer maturity, confidence, and a strong knowledge base-just what travel companies are looking for. Even if you have just a few years under your belt, consider traveling as a way to spread your wings and continue learning while you try living in different areas.
Talk with your family and friends, think about what you really want to do, and see if you can make travel nursing a reality. After all, it's not too late to fulfill your dreams.
