I am honored to be able to present to the readers an outstanding collection of articles in honor of the 40th anniversary of the community health center movement. It is all the more important that we remind ourselves of the "values" embodied in the health center movement as we struggle to stave off the inhuman cuts in services to millions of low-income Americans. The community health centers have admirably served as a safety net for the ever-increasing number of low-income Americans who have been simply told that they have no right to health insurance coverage. We continue with our regularly scheduled human rights column together with a good understanding of what is happening in the Republic of Texas.
