Sexually transmitted diseases continue to increase in the United States, reaching a new high for the sixth consecutive year, according to a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (http://www.cdc.gov/std/statistics/2019/default.htm), with more than 2.5 million cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis reported in 2019. These rates reflect a nearly 30% increase between 2015 and 2019. The highest rates of STDs were in ethnic and racial minority groups, gay and bisexual men, and youths ages 15 to 24 years.
