I was blessed with a wonderful mentor, Dr Katherine F Jeter. I, like her, am committed to assuring that the original "inventors" are credited with their invention. With that in mind, I was updating the bibliography for my chapter in Chronic Wound Care. While adding Grogan and Kramer's article on the use of nasal airways for the collection of liquid stool in patients with fecal incontinence, 1 I noted that the authors did not reference Watterworth and Ryzeuski's historic letter to the editor (Watterworth B, Ryzeuski J. Managing fecal incontinence that appeared in the Journal of Enterostomal Nursing). 2 This suggestion changed my approach to diarrhea in acutely ill patients so many years ago. I appreciate your making Journal readers aware of this important early, and previously unreferenced work.
