I am writing regarding Figure 2 on page 756 of the article, "The Clinician's Role in Medicare Prospective Payment" (November 2004). It states that the maximum number of points for M0230 (principal diagnosis) is 20. The maximum number of points is 21 when your principal diagnosis is an open wound due to burn or trauma.
