The photograph of Angela Padilla with her daughter Bella on the cover of the April issue was touching. Seven years ago, at age 40, I was diagnosed with an invasive ductal carcinoma with metastasis during my third trimester of pregnancy. It altered my life in many ways, not least in shattering the illusion that I am in control of my life.
My third child was born healthy, and we are both doing well. She is one of three daughters, and I hope that by the time she and her sisters reach adulthood, there is a greater emphasis on women's health.
