Presented by AACN, the Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence has been given to the following 10 units: both the neurotrauma intensive care unit (ICU) and coronary care unit of Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Conn.; the cardiac care unit at Oklahoma Heart Hospital and Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City, Okla.; the ICU at Overlook Hospital in Summit, N.J.; the ICU at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho; the neuromedical ICU at North Broward Medical Center in Pompano Beach, Fla.; the ICU at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Minn.; the cardiac ICU at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah; the ICU at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital, Houston, Tex.; and (two-time Beacon recipient) the adult medical surgical ICU at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Mass.
In the 2004 hospital awards, Lynchburg General Hospital, Lynchburg, Va.; Norwalk Hospital, Norwalk, Conn.; and Mount Carmel Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio won AACN's Beacon Award.
