Linda Seba, RN, interim clinical supervisor at Saint John Senior Behavioral Health Center, Leavenworth, Kan., won Ingram's magazine's Heroes in Healthcare Award. She also won the Nursing: The Heart of Healthcare Award, sponsored by the University of Kansas School of Nursing.
At Johns Hopkins University, Elizabeth Sloand, RN, MSN, CPNP, assistant professor at the School of Nursing, Baltimore, Md., was named the Volunteer in Health Care Winner for her work in Haiti . Jacquelyn Campbell, RN, PhD, FAAN, School of Nursing associate dean for faculty affairs and Anna D. Wolfe Endowed Professor, was named a Nurse Hero Honoree for her work against intimate partner violence. Three Hopkins nurses received honorable mentions in the Nurse Hero category:Phyllis Sharps, RN, PhD, FAAN, director of the master's program and associate professor at the School of Nursing, for her efforts to improve nursing care for battered women; Benita Walton-Moss, DNSc, RNSC, FNP, assistant professor and coordinator of the Family Nurse Practitioner Program at the School of Nursing, for her work in breaking down the healthcare barriers for vulnerable populations; and Paula Murphy, a nurse at the Johns Hopkins Hospital adult emergency department and graduate of the School of Nursing, for excelling in patient care.
Debra Stauffer, RN, MSN, CCRN, coordinator of the nursing program at The University of Texas at Tyler, Palestine campus, received the Touching the Future of Nursing Award at the Texas Nursing Students' Association Convention.
