Breast cancer is now the most diagnosed cancer worldwide, edging out lung cancer, which held the top spot over the last two decades. According to the World Health Organization, the number of people diagnosed with any type of cancer has doubled to 19.3 million and the number of deaths has risen from 6.2 million to 10 million. Breast cancer accounts for about 11.7% of those diagnoses, with 2.3 million new cases, while lung cancer accounts for 11.4%. However, lung cancer remains the deadliest cancer, responsible for 1.8 million deaths annually (18% of cancer deaths), followed by colorectal (9.4%), liver (8.3%), stomach (7.7%), and then female breast cancer (6.9%).
