I fully appreciate the conflict Julianna Paradisi discusses in "To Be or Not to Be: Choosing Between a Career in Art or Nursing" (https://wp.me/p7sy0l-7PP). As a long-retired nurse, I look back on my 40 years in nursing and know I made a positive difference in some of my patients' lives, and that gives me much satisfaction. True to Paradisi's father's advice, I wrote a book based on my nursing experience. I took art lessons over the years and I still enjoy drawing and painting. And this I believe: that nursing supports a flexible schedule and a variety of work settings, so one may be able to "have it all"!
