This is a discussion of what occurs with gastroesophageal reflux disease, when medications are no longer effective. This presentation discusses motility and manometry, lower esophageal sphincter pressures, what they mean and why the information is important. The impact of hiatal hernia with gastroesophageal reflux disease and treatment and therapeutic modalities are discussed. The quality of life for patients with severe gastroesophageal reflux disease is evaluated. The differences between a "full" and "partial wrap" with a Nissen Fundoplication are demonstrated with a video.
