This presentation will provide an overview of the Dutch National Health Care organization and requirements for the individual endoscopic care of Dutch inpatients and outpatients. The effect of innovations and new techniques in the practice of therapeutic endoscopy and high production levels will be discussed in regards to the management of the endoscopy unit.
The Dutch believe each patient is an individual with unique needs. Our goal is to provide high-quality care while maintaining dignity, to provide a safe environment conducive to restoring and maintaining health, and to be a resource for the physician for treatment, diagnosis, and management of the patient with gastrointestinal disorders.
As a member of the board of the Dutch Society of Endoscopy Nurses and Associates (NVGE-SEVA), I will tell you about our organization's aims: to provide educational opportunities, to be a channel for communication and information, to represent the interest of its members, and to advance the professional status of endoscopy nurses. Finally, I hope we can discuss how things are different and yet the same between different cultures and countries, hopefully resulting in a worldwide higher standard in delivering care in a job we love the most: gastroenterology nursing!!
