At Digestive Disease Week in 2004, Dr. Brenna Bounds, Dr. William Brugge, and Dr. Peter Kelsey of the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA, first introduced the DAVE Project. Dr. Bounds also presented it briefly in Dallas. The DAVE Project is a compilation of digital video clips of various endoscopic procedures (esophagogastroduodenoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, DACP, enteroscopy, VCE, and colonoscopy). The clips were captured in real time, edited, and correlated with corresponding pathology, radiology, and surgery. A descriptive clinical narrative was added for each clip. Additionally, digital video clips were submitted online from remote sites for inclusion in this Web site.
This endeavor represents the first Internet based fully digital educational video atlas of gastroenterology. The purpose of this session is to familiarize the Society of Gastroenterology Nursing and Associates membership with this Web site, one of the most advanced and comprehensive educational milestones for the dissemination of knowledge to the nurse and physician.
