This presentation will discuss current standards of care for colorectal cancer screening as well as the technology of virtual colonoscopy. Examples of virtual colonoscopy-generated images of polyps compared to optical colonoscopy will be presented. Comparative results from a study of virtual colonoscopy and optical colonoscopy for colorectal cancer screening in an average-risk population will be discussed. Patient preparation, tolerance, and acceptance of this new modality will be presented.
