Abstract
Research advances clinical practice. Over the past 3 decades, the dietetics literature has focused on how dietitians can enhance their research knowledge and skills. Although the dietetics curricula have been modified to incorporate research core competencies, one question still plagues the profession: Have dietetics practitioners acquired the skills necessary for greater involvement in research and scholarly activities? This article journeys into the past to uncover critical lessons for the future of research in dietetics education and practice.
