As I reflect on the Editorial I wrote in January 2020,1 I took the opportunity to highlight the year of the nurse. Little did I know what a year we would have. I have watched the national and international impact of nurses in all care settings as the pandemic has unfolded through the media. I have never been more proud of my colleagues in the compassion, competence, and leadership they have displayed in the midst of the pandemic. As with other nurses, the members of the Editorial Board of The Journal of Nursing Administration (JONA) and our expert peer reviewers persevered during the recent trials and stress to review manuscripts, in addition to their regular jobs. The conduct of research and the dissemination of evidence through publications are more important than before based on the acuity of our patient populations, issues surfacing as a result of the pandemic, and the decreased opportunities we all have for in-person meetings and presentations. Special thanks go to Beth Guthy, my publisher with Wolters Kluwer Health. She has supported JONA personally as well supporting our readers in making the journal available through her sponsorship of the numerous virtual meetings that have occurred. Our hope for 2021 is for our new normal and for health for all. I will never take my networking opportunities with nurses for granted again. I miss them and look forward to 2021 for new positive opportunities and new beginnings. In addition to the editorial board members listed on the masthead, the following people contributed to editorial development by reviewing manuscripts:
