Case studies have been embedded into the foundation of nursing education for years. Case studies are a great tool to synthesize knowledge, but at times can be dry and boring. In an attempt to engage learners and facilitate classroom interaction, a "choose your own adventure" case study was designed and implemented with junior nursing students in a medical-surgical course. To create this interactive case study, the website http://typeform.com (Barcelona, Spain) was used. While the website is geared toward the creation of online quizzes and surveys, the "form builder" can be used to develop an interactive case study. The "choose your own adventure" case study presents students with a scenario and then asks them what they would do or what they would expect to find. Based on their responses, students are able to move further into the case or need to take a step back to reevaluate their decisions. When done in a group environment, students are encouraged to call out answers, and educators have the ability to talk through the question and answers to assess critical thinking. While this example took place in the classroom environment, this tool could also be used in the clinical setting as a postconference activity and in online learning during a synchronous session. Integrating new technologies into traditional teaching methods has become easier than ever, and educators should continue to find innovative ways to engage nursing students.
