Abstract
Mrs. S. is suffering from a yeast infection after a course of antibiotics. Despite several unsuccessful self-treatments with an over-the-counter intravaginal clotrimazole treatment, she remained symptomatic and she was prescribed oral Diflucan (fluconazole). At first it seems that Mrs. S. has been cured, but a few days later, her symptoms return. You remember reading an article on Lactobacillus acidophilus as a remedy for yeast infections. Is there any validity to this treatment or is it just the latest craze of naturopathic medicine?
