Cynosure, Inc, Chelmsford, MA, has been awarded a patent for its optical radiationtreatment intended to enhance wound healing. The patent describes a method for reducing healing time for a wound or a surgical site on the skin. It does this with an optical radiation apparatus such as a pulse dye laser. Currently, the company's dye laser technology is being used to treat existing scar tissue. The invention is designed to explore opportunities to treat wounds before scarring begins.

Uroplasty, Inc, Minneapolis, MN, has entered into an exclusive manufacturing and marketing agreement with CL Medical, Lyon, France, to manufacture and sell I-Stop tape in the United States. Developed by CL Medical, the tape is a new generation, midurethral sling that is intended to treat stress urinary incontinence in women.
With the signing of this agreement, Uroplasty will proceed with Food and Drug Administration submissions for the introduction of I-Stop tape in the United States.
