There was some misinformation in "Medicare Eligibility, Enrollment, and Coverage" (Making Sense of Medicare, February). The article states that Medicare beneficiaries needing skilled nursing care in the home are eligible for such care "less than seven days per week, not to exceed 21 days." There is no such limitation for home health care, according to Medicare guidelines. An agency can even provide multiple visits in one day (for a patient with IVs or wounds) and send nurses or therapists daily, as long as the patient is homebound, there is a need for skilled care, and a physician has ordered it.
