Abstract
This article adds qualitative analyses to established practices in speech-language pathology to demonstrate how clinicians can work with identity. Interview material is used to illustrate established analytical practices. This same material is again analyzed from the perspective of identity using the Functional Individual Systems (FIS) framework (F. Hagstrom, 2000; F. Hagstrom & D. E. Daniels, in press), social identity questions (SIQ) (T. R. Sarbin & K. E. Scheibie, 1983), and identiting process (IP) (F. Hagstrom & J. V. Wertsch, 2004). Steps for established clinical practices and working with identity are provided.
