Abstract
A regional research effort in the Northeast section of the United States (NE-172) has been carried out in 5-year cycles over the last 15 years to study nutritional problems of the older adult. Many aspects of dietary methodology, biochemical parameters (including biomarkers), and nutrition education strategies have been examined. Integration of these research techniques in studies across the region has been the focus of several recent collaborative projects. Ongoing efforts continue to be applied to areas of study specific to the needs of an expanding population base of elders in America.
