AIR PURIFIER
Airsonett AB introduces the patented Airsonett Airshower, a self-contained mobile air purifier based on the principle of nonturbulent displacement airflow. Unlike conventional air cleaner technology that remakes room air, the Airsonett Airshower delivers clean-room quality air directly to the user's breathing zone. The Airsonett Airshower removes at least 99.95% of airborne particles greater than 0.3 micron, including viruses, bacteria, mite pollution, and pollen. Previously available only to industrial-type clean-room facilities, this marks the first application of this technology to medical markets.

PATIENT ID SYSTEM
BD announces its BD.id System. Prior to collecting a specimen, a nurse identifies himself or herself with the BD.id System by scanning a user ID badge. Once confirmed, the nurse scans the patient's bar-coded wristband at bedside. After the nurse collects the specimen, the BD.id System matches the specimen collection orders stored in the hand-held computer with the information scanned from the patient wristband, confirming that the specimen container is the correct one. A new bar-code label for the specimen container prints at the patient's bedside. When replaced in its cradle, the BD.id System synchronizes with the laboratory information system and confirms the completion of the correct collection from the patient.
