George D. Fulk, PT, PhD, FAPTA, has been named Deputy Editor of the Journal of Neurologic Physical Therapy (JNPT), the official, MEDLINE-indexed, quarterly publication of the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy. Dr Fulk is the Department Chair of Physical Therapy Education at the College of Health Professions-Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. He has served as the Associate Editor and Digital Media Editor for JNPT since 2010. "JNPT has played an important role throughout my career and has an important role to positively impact rehabilitation practice, education, research, patient care, and the physical therapy profession," he said. Dr Fulk will hold the position of Deputy Editor for 1 year before assuming the role of Editor-in-Chief in January 2021 when the term of the current editor, Edelle [Edee] Field-Fote, PT, PhD, FAPTA, is completed.

 

With the selection of her successor, Dr Field-Fote said, "It has been wonderful to work with George over the past decade. He has embraced every opportunity to contribute and has shown extraordinary dedication to JNPT. Through his creativity and commitment, he will surely take our journal to the next level." After stepping into the role of Editor-in-Chief herself in 2009, Dr Field-Fote achieved JNPT's first Journal Citations Reports Impact Factor in 2011. Subsequently, JNPT has twice ranked in Top 10 in the Rehabilitation category and currently has a 5-year Impact Factor of 3.244. Dr Field-Fote is the Director of Spinal Cord Injury Research at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia; she currently serves as President of the Foundation for Physical Therapy Research and as Chair of the NIH National Advisory Board on Medical Rehabilitation Research.

 

The Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy is a component of the APTA.
