Abstract
The purpose of this research was to study the perceptions of head nurses in Jordan about variables that influence the quality of nursing care in a teaching hospital. Head nurses perceived that nurses "usually" provided high quality nursing care. Time was the most important factor that influenced the quality of nursing care. High quality care required adequate staffing levels.
