CALGARY, ALBERTA OCTOBER 23-24, 2004
HOWDY!!
Join us in Calgary 2004 for a unique program with a dual focus of:
"Sustaining Ourselves"
"Helping Our Patients"
This year our program concentrates on providing more comprehensive practical knowledge for immediate application to both our patients and ourselves as professionals. The CACR believes that as healthcare professionals we need to care for ourselves and to strive to improve ourselves so that we may in turn make positive contributions in the lives of our patients.
Saturday
* Morning- topics will include helping patients make real changes; reach your patient through effective presentations to the adult learner; and proven strategies for maintaining long term behavior change. Highlighted by a presentation by Dr Stephen Hotz.
* Afternoon- we are very excited to officially launch the 2nd edition of CACR Guidelines for Cardiac Rehabilitation and Secondary Prevention: Enhancing the Science, Refining the Art. The editor, Dr James Stone, will explain the additions, updates, and changes to this 2nd edition. Other topics will address practical elements of guideline implementation and the related topic of program evaluation. Guidelines will be available for purchase on site after the launch.
Sunday
* Morning- Dr Wayne Sotile will lead us through a dynamic morning of presentations that address how we can help our patients thrive with heart disease as well as topics related to us as busy health professionals. Dr Sotile is the Director of Psychological Services at the Wake Forest University Cardiac Rehabilitation Program in North Carolina. His latest book is Thriving with Heart Disease and he recently was a guest on the CBS Early Show talking about his work. In addition to working with cardiac patients, Dr Sotile also works with high performance individual and professional teams in helping them deal with the stresses and practical work/life strategies that work. Dr Sotile is an accomplished and entertaining presenter.
* Afternoon- continued focus on the professional as we look at how you can build an effective cardiac rehabilitation team. Is your team as effective as you believe it to be? And, how to become the CEO of your own health.
