I am pleased to announce that Nancy Tomaselli, RN, MSN, CS, FNP, CWOCN, LNC, has agreed to assume responsibility as Section Editor for the Journal's Clinical Challenges Section. Nancy is well known to WOC nurses throughout North America. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia and WOC specialty practice education at the Harrisburg Hospital Enterostomal Therapy Nursing Education Program. In addition to this rigorous education, Nancy is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Legal Nurse. A pioneering entrepreneur in WOC nursing, Nancy is President and Chief Executive Office of Premier Health Solutions, LLC. Nancy has served as a preceptor to novice WOC nursing students at the Harrisburg Area WOCNEP, LaSalle University's WOCNEP, and Emory University WOCNEP.
Nancy has published in multiple peer-reviewed Journals, including the Journal of Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing (JWOCN). She served as a task force member for the Society's Lower Extremity Venous Disease and Neuropathic (diabetic foot) ulcer disease guidelines. In addition, Nancy has co-authored chapters for the Society's prestigious Core Curriculum textbooks and she contributed to the AACN's Procedure manual for Critical Care, which was awarded a 2005 Book of the Year Award by the American Nurses Association.
Nancy's expertise extends into all areas of WOC specialty nursing; she is known for her work with the effects of bioburden on wound healing and the effects of topical dressings containing silver. She has written patient educational materials in caring for your ileostomy, colostomy, and urostomy, along with work on incontinence and childbearing.
In addition to being a self-starter, and highly effective mentor, Nancy is precisely the kind of detail-oriented person needed to successfully mentor the multiple highly skilled clinicians whose first publication is for the JWOCN Clinical Challenges Sections, while ensuring the kind of high-quality scholarly work demanded for publication in the JWOCN. This attention to detail is reflected in Nancy's current appointment as Nurses Planner for the WOCN Society's highly successful Webinar series. Along with Deputy Editor Dr Teresa Kelichi and the entire Editorial Board, I am happy to welcome Nancy to her new position on the Editorial Board of JWOCN.
