Are you ready for an incredible 5-day learningexperience in the Big Easy at Nursing ManagementCongress2019? You won't want to miss a minuteof this premier conference for nurse leaders, taking place October 15 through 19 at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans.
Our planning panel has put together an impressive program filled with the best and brightest experts in nursing, leadership, and healthcare to provide an educational program with something for every level of nurse leader in every practical setting. You might find it hard to choose which of the many educational sessions to attend! And Lippincott Professional Development will award up to 16 contact hours for attendance of this nursing continuing-education activity-a maximum of 20 contact hours can be earned (inclusive of a 2-day preconference workshop). What can you expect to find at Congress2019? Here's a sneak peek...
Day 1
The first day begins with two intensive 2-day preconference workshops: choose from a New Manager Intensive course or a Nursing Leadership Certification Prep course. These comprehensive all-day workshops provide in-depth learning experiences from experts in nursing leadership.
Day 2
The two intensive preconference workshops continue; if you aren't registered for those, you can attend one of the other innovative workshops on effective dialogue with difficult interactions, avoiding malpractice, building an energizing and empowering workplace, or continuous improvement. After a full day of learning, our Opening Session begins at 5:30 p.m., featuring an engaging session by Jeff Doucette, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, FACHE, on creating the next generation of nurse leaders. Then join us for a welcome reception in the exhibit hall with the chance to view the latest products and technologies, network with vendors and colleagues, and view attendee poster presentations.
Day 3
The exhibit hall opens at 7:45 a.m., where you can enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast and continue visiting vendors and meeting fellow nurse leaders from around the globe. Then we'll present the Richard Hader Visionary Leader Award to a deserving nurse who exemplifies excellence in leadership. After our Keynote Address by the energetic Brant Menswar on unleashing the power of purpose, the breakout sessions will begin. We'll have a jam-packed day filled with 16 breakout sessions covering topics such as dealing with difficult patients, social media in healthcare, responding to an active shooter, detoxifying your work environment, accepting failure, improving your patient experience, and much more. If you have any energy left at the end of the day, you can grab some colleagues and new friends and hit the French Quarter and beyond for amazing food, delicious sweets (beignets at Cafe du Monde are a must, and they're open 24/7), and maybe dancing to some zydeco music!
Day 4
Friday kicks off with a General Session by Conference Chairperson Pamela Hunt, MSN, BS, RN, NEA-BC, on true leadership. Then 12 breakout sessions continue throughout the day. Need to learn more about succession planning, ethical leadership, cannabis and CBD, managing hospital throughput challenges, or elevating your brand? We've got you covered! Additional sessions cover topics essential to nurse leaders, and don't forget to visit the exhibit hall to learn about cutting-edge products, network with new friends, grab some lunch, and view poster presentations. Then end this intensive day with the General Session "Patient Satisfaction: The Engagement Factor" with Rick Evans, MA, from NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. You won't want to miss this valuable session.
Day 5
The last day of Nursing Management Congress2109 features three General Sessions starting at 8 a.m. and wrapping up right before noon. We'll start with "Becoming Legendary: A Personal Journey in Transformational Leadership" with AJ Stephens, DNP, MBA, RN, NEA-BC. Then join Alan P. Agins, PhD, for "The Runaway Train of Drug Misuse and Abuse: Is There Light at the End of the Tunnel?" And we'll close out the morning and our conference with Elizabeth Angelo, MSN, RN-BC, CPHQ, NEA-BC, who'll discuss "Wholehearted Leadership: Building Agility for Times of Change."
Hopefully you'll have some time to enjoy the sights, sounds, and tastes of New Orleans before heading home to share your newfound knowledge with your staff and colleagues.
