Abstract
ABSTRACT: This qualitative study utilized a phenomenological approach to better understand nurse, chaplain, and family member experiences with the delivery of spiritual services at the end of life in an inpatient intensive care unit. Triadic semistructured interviews (six with the patient's family members, six with nurses, and six with chaplains) were conducted. Family members perceived that the nurses' role was to care for the physical needs of their loved one, whereas chaplains were there to care for the emotional needs of those involved.
