How sad that our president's abortion politics have resulted in a denial of funding for women's health programs around the world ("World Health Roundup,"News, December 2003).

To learn about a grassroots movement launched in response to the Bush administration's withholding of $34 million in funding from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) after Congress had already approved the funds for UNFPA use, please visit http://www.34millionfriends.org. The goal is to find 34 million people who, with a tax-deductible donation of $1 or more, will provide funding to UNFPA programs that support voluntary family planning, prenatal and postnatal care, and HIV-AIDS prevention programs.

This is a great way to show support for women who struggle to obtain basic health services and to register concern for the shortsighted policy decision of President Bush.
