Dear Editor,
I was surprised to see that the clinical nurse specialist (CNS) programs offered at University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) were not included in the article by Gerard and Walker (Vol 17, Issue 4). In the author's response to letters to the editor, I learned about the methods used to gather the data for the article. Also, I noted your journal's plans to continue publishing a directory of CNS programs in the United States. I am requesting that the 8 CNS programs offered by UCSF be included in future publications. UCSF offers CNS programs in critical care/trauma, cardiovascular, oncology, gerontology, community/ cross-cultural health, psychiatric/mental health, occupational/environmental health, and perinatal nursing. Please contact Dorrie Fontaine, DNSc, RN, FAAN, Associate Dean for Academic Programs at UCSF, 2 Koret Way, Box 0604, San Francisco, CA 94143. Dr Fontaine will be able to provide information about the programs offered at UCSF.
