Abstract
Ann Marie, a home care nurse for 6 years, says during lunch that she is "burned out" and is considering leaving her position as case manager for a large urban visiting nurse service. She elaborates, saying there are too many job roles and inadequate time to perform any aspect of her job well. She describes feelings of inadequacy, frustration, and loss of control. She shares aloud her doubts that management will ever create a positive work environment.
