The 37th Dermatology Nurses' Association (DNA) Convention will be located at the Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, DC, on February 27 through March 2, 2019. "Monumental Strides in Dermatology Excellence" is the designation of the convention with the themes of "knowledge, collaboration, and advocacy." Registration will open in Fall 2018. The 2019 Convention Program Planning Committee members are Laura Wavra, Chair; Olanda Hathaway, Nurse Practitioner Forum Chair; Cynthia Cameron; Maura Flynn; Sarah Neider; Diana Pencheva; Peggy Vernon; and Theresa Coyner, DNA President. The keynote will be delivered by Janet Haebler, Senior Associate Director, State Government Affairs of the American Nurses' Association. Ms. Haebler is active in policy and government affairs for nurses and healthcare. She is a well-known speaker and promises to offer insight to conference attendees on advocacy for both nursing and the patients we serve. Convention presentations will offer content appropriate for all DNA members. A "hands-on" workshop is planned on dressing challenging wounds. Presentations will focus on pharmacology, addictions to tanning beds, wound care, and others. The Nurse Practitioner Forum will be held on February 28 and March 1, with postconvention selected workshops offered on Saturday, March 2. Product theaters will offer additional learning opportunities, and the always popular exhibition hall will give attendees an opportunity to speak with exhibitors. Past convention participant evaluations indicate that the most common reasons for attending were to obtain continuing education and network with colleagues. The Program Planning Committee is exploring strategies to increase networking opportunities while providing a convention that will be both educational and entertaining.
