K-SHIELD Winged Blood Collection Sets and Small Vein Infusion Sets
Kawasumi Laboratories America, Inc. has received clearance from the Food and Drug Administration to market two new needle safety devices under the trade name "K-Shield." The safety devices are winged blood collection sets and small vein infusion sets. Both devices are intended to protect clinicians and patients from needle stick injuries that occur during needle removal from venipuncture sites. As with other safety needles, these devices allow the clinician to use one hand to dispose of the needle while holding pressure on the venipuncture site. The K-Shield collection sets and small vein infusion sets are available with the K-Shield safety device or in standard sets. Both new K-Shield needle sets are expected to be available for sale in late 2003. For more information on the K-Shield product family of needle protection, call 800-KAWASUMI (529-2786) or visit http://www.kawasumiamerica.com.
