The nine studies in this issue of The Journal of Nursing Research cover nursing education, measurements, and patient outcomes as well as explore the experience and quality of life of patients with chronic illnesses. The three nursing-education studies assessed the effects of a simulation-based teaching method on improving the critical thinking and self-confidence of nursing students (Mashael Hasan Alamrani), explored moral development in nursing students using a constructivist grounded theory approach (Soodabeh Joolaee), and examined the trajectories and predictors of role commitment in nursing preceptors (Chich-Hsiu Hung). The instruments that were developed, validated, and/or psychometrically tested in articles in this issue include the Fertility Intention Scale in breast cancer survivors (Sheng-Miauh Huang), Quality of Life Scale for Mental Disorders (Shu-Chun Lee), and Occupational Fatigue Exhaustion/Recovery in nurses (Chang-Jian Qiu). In addition, information reception and expectations among hospitalized elderly were investigated in the study conducted by Huang and colleagues. Also, Yang and associates demonstrated a significant correlation between healthy lifestyles and quality of life in patients with chronic schizophrenia. Finally, the feasibility of a multitheory-driven lifestyle intervention in prediabetes adults was demonstrated in a preliminary study conducted by Lin and colleagues. The studies in this issue reflect nurses' awareness and recognition of the need for evidence-based practice as well as the wide range of interests of today's nursing scientists.
