I just read "2017: A Year of Uncertainty, Upheaval, and Undoing" (Editorial, January) and I couldn't agree more with Maureen Shawn Kennedy. As a nurse, I feel very strongly about being involved in organizations and politics. We are here to improve patients' quality of life, which is not limited to their inpatient stay and is affected by their environment outside the hospital, including all the policies put forth by local and national government. We must join forces as nurses to promote a better future for our patients-and for our own families!
