I am relieved to see an article that portrays nurses as normal individuals with real and honest emotions and thoughts ("Someone's Son," Reflections, October 2017). This article illustrates how a professional nurse struggles with normal feelings and handles the difficult task of prioritizing care for patients despite personal judgments. It's imperative for new nurses to know how to express their feelings and handle them in a professional, safe way to deliver equal and quality care to all. I plan to submit this to my company to use for new employee orientation training and as a basis for a stress support class for nurses.
