Abstract
As I contemplate the challenges that home healthcare nurses will meet during the next century, I am reminded of the many successful challenges that our nursing founders met over the past 100 plus years. Many of these successes came during crisis situations that were a lot like the ones we are experiencing now. Looking back at some of our nursing heroines can show us examples of the opportunities home healthcare nurses may encounter that will help to bring about positive changes in the 21st century.
