Dubois' Lupus Erythematosus

By Daniel J. Wallace and Bevra Hannahs Hahn. Philadelphia, Pa: Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2002. ISBN: 0-7817-2464-3. 1348 pages.

Have you ever wished that someone would compile all you need to know about a disease state in one complete reference? The 6th Edition of Dubois' Lupus Erythematosus is just that book. This newly updated book is a complete, weighty, and comprehensive reference for all health care professionals involved in the care of patients with discoid and systemic lupus erythematosus. It shares the wealth and breadth of knowledge regarding this disease from historical background, pathogenesis, pathophysiology, to evidence-based patient management. It also has 2 very useful appendices: (1) A Patient's Guide to Lupus Erythematosus and (2) Lupus Resources for Patients, Physicians, and Health Professionals. Both are extremely readable and practical. Although the size of this book (1348 pages) makes it less portable for the busy health care provider, its depth more than overcomes the restrictions of its weight.
