APWCA

The American Professional Wound Care Association (APWCA), a division of the International Professional Wound Care Association, has been created to represent the various medical specialties involved in treating complex wounds and to facilitate an integrated, multispecialty approach to wound management. The mission of APWCA is to help decrease the rate of complications from these wounds, accelerate wound healing, and preserve and/or enhance the quality of life for these patients.

Membership in APWCA is open to physicians and allied medical specialists who are involved in treating patients with chronic wounds, with 2 participation categories for physicians and 2 for the allied medical specialties. "Associate" participation is available to all licensed physicians involved in treating the patient at risk for chronic wounds. "Fellow" membership is offered to the physician who is board certified and/or has completed fellowship training in his/her given area of specialty or is board certified in wound care. All other medical care providers may join as "Member," and those certified in wound care may join as "Diplomate."

The APWCA endorses Advances in Skin & Wound Care, and its members will receive the Journal as a benefit of membership. Members who provide an E-mail address will also be enrolled in the journal's E-alert service and will receive notice of breaking news between issues.
