Support services for older adults, caregivers, and those with disabilities have improved, but progress is too slow. As the U.S. population ages and people with disabilities increasingly seek independence in daily living, support services become crucial for patients and caregivers. A recent report by the AARP Foundation, the Commonwealth Fund, and the SCAN Foundation (http://bit.ly/2vMV5aP) ranked states according to their ability to provide such services. Access to care and quality of life were among the variables rated for each state. Although improvements in key services were found, the authors concluded that federal and state initiatives must pick up the pace to achieve benchmarks of quality care nationally.
