I just read your article on miscarriage after infertility (MCN, Jan/Feb 2003). Nicely done! My own brief foray into the world of infertility treatments really opened my eyes to this whole world. I will never be flippant (again) when talking about women who pursue ART. I think that practitioners can certainly do a better job to prepare women who have infertility treatments for the fact they may miscarry. They are at high risk, especially the older ones. One of the (heartless) doctors I saw said I would probably miscarry anyway, at my age. Once you've had a miscarriage, it's like your faith in Mother Nature is forever shaken. Older women, especially, cannot take pregnancy for granted. Thanks for a thought-provoking article.
