As a former nursery nurse, I completely agree with the implementation of safe sleep guidelines during the hospital stay and when infants go home with their families. These guidelines, classes, and the sleep sacks provided to infants can greatly contribute to the prevention of accidental infant deaths owing to SIDS. I found it interesting that the use of hats for normothermic infants could put them at risk for overheating. This new fact is something I will definitely use to teach new parents.
