Abstract
Forensic nurses are well trained in dealing with an autopsy investigation and take a holistic approach to meeting a family's needs. When it comes to death, it is fundamental to not disregard a family's language, background, culture, and values. The forensic field should be part of every nurse's practice, through continuing education and involvement in workshops.1 When my uncle died, it was because of lack of understanding and poor communication that our family refused an autopsy. To this day we still wonder about the cause of his death.
