Abstract
A buddy is someone to whom you are accountable, and a battle is a time of turmoil. A Battle Buddy can be a service dog, soldier, colleague, coworker, relative, or anyone designated who also reciprocates the accountability. The responsibilities of the Battle Buddy are to be accountable to each other, which is defined as an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility (Merriam-Webster, 2015). Battle Buddy qualities can be described as an assistant (helper), a communicator (verbal and nonverbal), observer (of actions), motivator (morale and outlook), encourager (confidence), collaborator (help problem solve), diffuser (stress and negative situations), and an intervener (knowing when to step up or step in) (Adler & Castro, 2013).
