Abstract

There are many challenges to teaching future nursing students. One challenge not often found in literature are the reasons why students choose to enter the nursing profession. Each semester, I ask new students why they chose to enter nursing. Over the years, the answer to this question has changed. Unfortunately, the answers sometimes given by students make me wonder, have we lost the calling to be nurses?
