Abstract

In her thought-provoking article in Nursing2016, describing how educators can help break the cycle of lateral violence, Melissa Schneider asks, “Is there a connection between student/educator relationships and lateral violence?” She defines bullying as repeated exposure to behavior that is negative or abusive in situations “where the victim has little defense against it” (2016, p. 17) and recalls her own experience with an austere, unapproachable, rigid clinical instructor. Wow, zing, she just nailed a memory for me!
