Abstract

One of the more challenging roles of a clinical nurse specialist (CNS) can be that of a researcher. Nursing research is conducted so that clinicians can say with confidence that there is some degree of likelihood that if an intervention is performed, a result will likely occur a given percentage of the time. Despite being tasked with evaluating and conducting research, preparation to become a CNS often includes only 1 course in nursing research in graduate programs and possibly 1 graduate statistics course.
